North Enfield’s reply got off to fast start with opener Tom Coughlan hitting a quickfire 20 before falling in the 6th over to Carl Frame(1-36-9.3). The visitors were reduced to 2-51 in the 12th over when Zach Brown was bowled by Sawyers for 7. This brought Chris Gillman to the crease, who together with Jones calmly went about getting the runs. The pair shared a partnership of 112 runs before Gillman fell in the 39th over for 42. Jones fell the very next over for a superb 91. Two more quick wickets fell as North Enfield looked to get ahead of the rate but that was the end of the wobble as Sam Pitcher(28*) and Lawrence Marsh(12*) calmly saw the side to victory in the last over.
The win sees North Enfield climb to third place in division 3A of the Saracens Hertfordshire cricket league.
In Division 6B North Enfield’s 2ndXi also faced local rivals in Botany Bay 2ndXi. North Enfield won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first, hoping to take advantage of any extra nip in the wicket from the overnight rain. However the early advantage didn’t transpire and Botany Bay raced to 165-3. But North Enfield’s bowlers kept the rate down and their perseverance was rewarded as they bowled the visitors out for 177 from 46.2 overs.
North Enfield’s reply started well with openers Dan Vanniasingham(34) and Alex Williams(63) sharing a partnership of 116. When the openers fell Faizel Patel(41*) made quick work of the rest of the runs, chasing down the total in the 34th over. That makes 2 wins in 2 for the side who travel to Boxmoor next week, who are without a win so far this season.
