Gandy puts on model performance
St Albans reply started well, with North Enfields openers struggling to find their lines the batsmen raced to 71 from 14 overs. But then the introduction of Abdul Vahid Khan (2-42-14) and Shahid Ebrahim (4-59-15) gave North Enfield some much needed control. And the scoreboard pressure started to tell when opener J Rosson(37) was caught trying to hit Ebrahim over the top. Then the combination of good tight bowling and the required run rate creeping up forced the new batsmen to play some shots that wernt really on. Leaving the other opener A Hounslow who batted very well for his 87 looking on from the other end as St Albans slipped from 97-1 to 127-5. Hounslow and number 7 Winfield(13) put together a 26 run partnership but after Ebrahim bowled Winfield, Hounslow was left with just the tail to bat. Full credit must go to St Albans for looking for the win all the way to the finish, but the introduction of Steve Gandy with the ball proved to be too much as he gave a master class of swing bowling. Removing the tail and opener Hounslow to finish with figures of 4-12 from 3.1 overs.
North Enfield face local rivals Cockfosters at Strayfield Rd on Saturday.
