An excellent win on a very warm day for the Sunday XI, the second victory of the season and very well deserved after an excellent performance all-round. The batting was lead by Tom and Del, who batted for the majority of the innings – Del hit some huge 6s and was desperately unfortunate to be out 4 short of his 3rd ton of the season. Tom was run out of a straight drive (?) from Slim which the bowler got a hand on and deflected onto the stumps.
Slim’s Tea consisted of a significant portion of Tesco’s entire stock of pasta.
The 2nd innings was delayed whilst we watched the final 2 games of Mr Murray’s win, and the success continued for North Enfield with Goodwill losing early wickets in opening spells from Ken and Mally. Slim carried on the good work (apart from the first no-ball 6 he delivered) and picked up a wicket with a catch at gully from The Colonel. Simon P bowled some useful stuff from the Fallow Buck end to leave Goodwill struggling at Drinks. Tom turned over a lovely spell of 2 / 7. Del boy warmed up furiously but wasn’t required at this stage as it wasn't really condusive to medium pace The Colonel bowled a tricky spell, with some runs conceded towards the end but picked up 2 wickets including a spectacular catch from DVD in the deep, running backwards. Alex Wood bowled a tidy 3 overs for 11 runs with the senior Woods present – top stuff, and a lovely day.
2nd XI v Old Camdenians II
North Enfield 151 / 10 (52.4) D.Vanniasingham 40*, A.MacMurdie 28, M.Ricketts 25
Old Camdenians 149 / 10 (43.3) J.Coningsby 5 / 30
Superb win for the 2s, defending a meagre total of 151 which was built around 25 from the skipper before a questionable LBW, and then a 50 partnership between DVD and Andy Mac. Bowling began interestingly with 4 overs of ‘spin’ from the skipper to the amazement and amusement of the watching panel. Jacko with his first 5 wkt haul in...years…and backed up with solid spells from Delboy, Ahsan and Richie Lee. Top of the Division by 24 points.
1st XI v North Mymms II
North Mymms 213 / 7 (53.0)
North Enfield 217 / 6 (44.3)
