North Enfield 185 / 6 (40.0) D.Sanders 94
St John’s Wood 186 / 3 (39.0)
The scheduled opposition for this weekend, Walthamstow could not raise a side, so Mally managed to get a replacement fixture against St John’s Wood CC. Ken wont the toss and decided to bat. Gleno unfortunately got out 4th ball, and after hitting a couple of 4s, Tom (17) also perished. Del Boy however took quite a shining to their bowlers and launched their quicker bloke for repeated straight boundaries, and fell just short of 100. DVD (27) batted well again and we felt that 185 was reasonable, though 200 would have been nice.
The bowling got off to an economical start, with Mally bowling 7 overs for 11 runs inc. 3 maidens. Wickets were hard to come by on a dry flat wicket, but the run rate was always about par and we managed to keep it in check, despite only having 10 men. The game went down to the penultimate over so not a bad day all in all.
