North Enfield XI v D.Malleson’s XI

North Enfield batted first and scored 202, Kieran top-scoring with 76. Mally’s XI came up just 4 runs short with 198 in an entertaining game.

Top marks for the superb birthday cake, correct in every detail and for all who kindly helped with Tea.

2nd XI v Mill Hill Village

North Enfield 218 / 7 (43.0) A.Williams 118, R.Barber 60

Mill Hill Village 192 / 9 (37.0)

An entertaining game, which North Enfield just missed out on all 30 pts, but a good winning draw. Alex Williams registered his second league 100 of the season and Barber Barber got a good 60.

Sunday XI v Nazeing Common II

Nazeing Common 201 / 5 (49.0) C.McKenna 3 / 75, D.Malleson 2 / 82

North Enfield 62 / 9 (xx.x) *only 9 men, D.Malleson 23*

To start with we only had 9 men, Nazeing kindly offered us a 10th man to field which was greatly accepted. The second issue was we only had 3 bowlers, so Mally bowled unchanged for 20 overs from the pavilion end, Ken bowled 19 in two shifts and The Colonel bowled 9. That we kept the score to a fraction over 200 at 4 an over was a miracle, given the lack of bowling and less than enthusiastic fielding from certain players – making an effort and making a mistake is fine, making no effort at all to give your team-mates support is unforgiveable frankly. Ken bowled well for his 3 wickets. The main Nazeing partnership consisted of a young lad aged 13 who made 60 quality runs, and the senior batsman of the side who got just under 50 (despite an arguably plumb LBW shout not given ‘it was going too far down off’ apparently…)

Batting was not a great success, at one stage we were 17/5 with only Mally and Ken (15) making any headway.

 2nd XI v Langleybury III

North Enfield 3 / 1 (1.3) RAIN

Alex W got out first ball. Del got 1 run. Then it hooted down with rain again and we went home.

1st XI v Knebworth Park II

North Enfield 167 / 4 (34.3) Y.Ghayas 108*

Knebworth Park 157 / 10 (40.5) x.xxx, 5 / 30

On a rain-affected day, it was excellent for the 1st XI to get a result after a long delay for rain. North Enfield declared right after Tea and gave Knebworth a target of 168 to chase. Some early boundaries for Knebworth followed and it was looking like they were on track for a win, before a spell of 4 wickets for just 8 runs in 5 overs brought North Enfield back into the game and on to victory. To get a game in given the conditions was incredible.

Sunday XI v Southgate Compton

North Enfield 185 / 8 (40.0) (D.Sanders 89, T.Coughlan 35*, G.Hughes 31)

Southgate Compton 187 / 7  (36.2) (D.Malleson 4/8, T.Coughlan 2/29)

A good game once again against our friends from Compton.  North Enfield decided to bat first and after 9 overs had scored 3 runs...Del went in a bit higher up the order, and along with Garth managed to get things going a bit to reach about 80 at drinks. Some yahoo-ing eventually gave us a competitive total of 185, which included another solid 30+ from Tom C. The usual excellent Tea at Compton followed.

Mally and Ken opened the bowling, with Mally bowling the opener with a marginally quicker one to end his first spell of 6 overs, 3 maidens, 1 for 4. Ken wobbled away at the other end, and picked up a couple of wickets in his 8 overs. Tom C then bowled a terrific spell, picking up 2 wickets for under 30. At drinks, with 100 needed off 20, we felt we had a chance. Sadly it was not to be after the 2nd and 3rd change bowlers struggled a bit, but a good spell from Bradders on debut and some good overs from Del still left Compton with work to do. Mally came back into the attack and picked up a double-wicket maiden, and then another wicket in his 8th over, which gave a very small glimmer of hope. But Compton had enough overs and batsman left to secure the victory.

2nd XI v Northchurch II

Northchurch 125 / 10 (38.1)

North Enfield 129 / 3 (30.0)

1st XI v Totteridge Millhillians II

North Enfield 215 / 8 (53.0) (M.Partridge 85)

Totteridge Millhillians 187 / 10 (44.3)
