Dear North Enfield,

There are just three weeks of the league season left so please do your best to make yourself available. In the dark evenings of the coming autumn you'll be dreaming about the game and getting on your whites so do it when you have the opportunity!

Our U17s have made it to the semi-final of the Middlesex Youth Cup and have been drawn at home. The match is happening this Friday (23rd August) vs Stoke Newington, start time = 17.00. The bar will be open, so please come along and support the team. Good luck everyone!

The ECB's annual playing survey is now open and I encourage all players and parents to click on the following link and give your views. The results are fed back into all planning so all views count. There are prizes to be won also...

Dear North Enfield,

I hope this mail finds all members and friends of the club well and enjoying summer.

The madness of early season is well behind us and now we can enjoy cricket in August and September in EN2. The Juniors have now finished and we will be celebrating their achievements on Friday 13th September in our Pavilion. More details to follow, but please keep the night free.

Our three adult weekend teams are all doing well and our club captain TC summaries our season so far as follows:

"Notwithstanding the weekend before last wash out, there have been a number of bright spots on the field for both league sides over the first two-thirds of the season. After the challenges of last year, it has been very pleasing that we have consistently managed to field two sides every Saturday. Across both teams there has been a healthy mix of senior adults and colts and the team spirit created - and results achieved - bodes well for the future of the club.

The first team has already claimed as many victories as we managed over the course of the whole of last season, while the second team is currently sitting second in their table. If the second team can gain promotion and the first team avoid relegation then I think that would represent a very good season for the club.

Both outcomes look achievable but to do this we really need everyone to step up and make themselves available for as many games as possible over the final third of the league season. We are now in the midst of summer holiday season and numbers will be stretched over the coming weeks so anything you can do to help out would be much appreciated by both Andy and myself.

Finally, the first team are hosting a “Curry-oke” on the evening of Saturday 7th September. This is the last league game of the season and will be a great chance for us all to get together and have some fun. Illy and Khan have kindly agreed to provide the catering, while I’m hoping Del will be able to hook up the karaoke for those that enjoy that kind of thing. Details on pricing and tickets will follow in the coming weeks."

Reminder that we have our family tennis match @ Enfield Lawn Tennis Club on Friday 8th September. I do hope you can join us, if you can please let me know so we know numbers for the all important BBQ!

Finally from me for now we have club hire on the 16th August in the evening, we need some help behind the bar please so please let Del, Ken or I know if you can spare an hour or two.

As Tom said please let him, Andy and Mally know your weekend availability and let's build on England's World Cup success and enjoy lots more cricket together this summer.....

Dear North Enfield,

The beginning of July is 'peak season' in the cricketing year and it is great to see the club being used on and off the field in so many ways.....

Both Saturday and Sunday senior teams continue to perform well with so many products of our junior coaching programme (both boys and girls) now representing and performing consistently for NECC......

Speaking of the Juniors we have had a number of Wednesdays cancelled this year owing to the weather. For several years we have been unaffected but this year has been so annoying that the rain has struck on a Wednesday! We and our volunteer coaches are extending the season until the 24th July to make up for time lost. We look forward to seeing you all there for the extra week.....

Also our Junior Presentation Evening will take place on Friday 13th September. More details to follow but please, everyone keep the night free to celebrate another fabulous summer of Junior cricket at Strayfield Road.

As a Management Committee we are always scheming at least 6 months is advance, so are currently planning post season projects. Our main aims are re-paving our veranda, re-roofing our storage shed by the nets and adapting our pavillion to incorporate female changing facilities. To make all these happen we need time, expertise and materials. If you can help or know anyone that can in any way please let me or anyone on our Management Committee know.

Speaking of progress and getting things done, there have been two huge milestones met this week. As previously advised we were successful in being awarded £1,000 of funding from the Cricket World Cup fund, we now have a brand new top spec TV (thanks Del for arranging!) installed and an iZettle receipt machine that completes our till system.

As advertised we were visited today by Tauranga Boys' College in New Zealand in a well fought game in the EN1 sun. Our visitors were very impressed with our tree and even treated us to the Haka

Thanks to everyone for making this possible. It has been months in the planning and I'm pleased we made everyone from Tauranga feel very welcome when they were so far away from home.

Finally I'm aware after 187 mails that it would be good to have some other input and other views. Watch this space.....

Dear North Enfield,

I hope this mail finds everyone well, I am just back from the club watching our U12s win a fantastic game vs Hertford. All wins are good, but against the bigger local clubs highlights even more how well we are progressing! Thanks to Gillers, DVD and all our coaches/ match managers for all their passion and dedication!

Thanks for bearing with us with all the Junior rearranged fixtures. The season is already congested but with all the rain we are trying to get all games played before the proscribed cut-off date. Availability and support has been amazing, so thank you!

Speaking of postponements and cricket, we have decided to reschedule our Family Tennis Night @ Enfield Lawn Tennis Club for the 6th September. We and they were originally free but we both now have fixtures to fulfil. Our U14s are playing away and we have a U17s Middlesex Youth Cup match at the club. Please come along and support the team who will feature in our new coloured kit vs Holtwhites. Game is due to start about 17.30, there will be a BBQ and the bar will be open. Good luck everyone!

Some housekeeping. Can all players and spectators please make an effort to keep the club/ ground tidy. At the end of long days/ sessions too many times captains/ coaches/ management members/ wifes of all the above are having to tidy up, wash glasses, collect kit and rubbish from the outfield/ nets. We have spent so much time and money to upgrade and redecorate all our facilities so we all have a duty to keep them clean and presentable. Thank you.

Thanks for such good adult weekend availability. There is a wonderful spirt across the club at present with several players returning who have not played for a few years loving the environment with a positive mix of juniors and adults. Well done to TC, Andy and Dave for leading us so well.

Finally have you checked out our revamped website yet? I have already had lots of positive comments, please let Steve Gilmore or I know if you have any suggestions/ improvements.

Dear North Enfield,

It is the summer solstice tomorrow and though we are waiting for some consistent summer sunshine in EN2 there is lots happening at our club......

Firstly thanks to everyone for supporting our '80s night on Saturday. I have received so many compliments where fun was had by all; brilliant fancy dress, top tunes, great family environment where members and their guests had so much fun. Thanks for supporting so wonderfully and to Mandy and Andy for getting us organised!

A reminder that we are playing our sporting neighbours Enfield Ignatians RFC tomorrow in a T20 game. Please get up and support the players and have a beer/ glass of vino after a long week at work for a 18.00 start. Also our friends at Enfield Lawn Tennis Club are hosting us next Friday (28th June) for night of tennis to get us in the mood for Wimbledon. We have a mixed family format planned and it is only right to get a fitting number along to the club on The Ridgeway. I have already had a few replies but please do let me know if you want to play so we can plan food. Rackets and balls will be supplied and the format is to encourage fun and participation. Their courts have just been refurbished, so please join us!

Frustratingly the rain has mostly fallen long and heavy on Wednesdays and affected our our Junior Nights. I'm so sorry this has been the case and we have cancelled with enormous reluctance, but our first consideration must be safety. We are planning to extend the Junior sessions by a couple of extra weeks so watch this space.... Thanks to all parents and players for getting to league games on time and for superb availability! It is so wonderful to watch all our young players enjoy the game, grow as teams, gain game time experience and wear our badge with pride! Special thanks to all parents and grandparents who support with such enthusiasm!

Thank you Metaswitch who have agreed to sponsor our U17 Middlesex Cup shirts! We really appreciate it and the shirts will be used for many games and years to come. There will be more to follow on the teams' progress......

Total club membership stands at almost £7,000 which is imperative to keeping us running. Thanks to everyone but we are still missing a few, so please get in touch with Gleno and Nick to pay up so they don't have to chase you......

Finally a couple of years ago I sent round a questionnaire to ask for suggestions on what we do well and what we can improve. There were numerous positives but the biggest area of improvement was centred on our website. Last year our time was overtaken with fundraising/ organisation for the containers and roller, but over the last couple of weeks we have listened and revamped the content of www.northenfieldcc.co.uk. Huge thanks to Steve Gilmore and Bingo for making this happen! There is still more to do, but please take a look and let Steve, Bingo or I know what else you would like to see.

In closing, adult weekend availably has been been brilliant in 2019 and all teams are playing well with some outstanding performances and older Juniors stepping up to adult cricket! Please keep letting TC, Andy and Dave know when you can play and enjoy the game while representing NECC.
