FROM THE CHAIR

Mail from the Chair - number 25

22/11/2012

Dear North Enfield,

As always I hope this mail finds you all well.  This will be quite a long mail I think, but there is a lot I want to cover to keep   you all informed as to all news North Enfield.  Please bear with me and read though to the end including all attachments….

As 70 odd of you will know, we had a great Dinner and Dance celebration last Friday night.  Stuart you did a brilliant job and
the whole night ran seamlessly.  Big events do not happen like that by magic, so thanks for all the time you spent organising everything.  Thanks also to all attendees for supporting, buying raffle tickets and bringing raffle prizes.

Whilst on the topic of the Dinner and Dance I want to update and recap on 3 things please.

I said a few words that I thought would be good restate. There are some important thank yous and mentions to a number of people who could not attend so please read the attachment with my notes

We have been very lucky this year to have been presented with a new award.  As you look at our Honours Boards, you will see (if you haven’t already) that they are dominated in the early years by Frank Barwick for his batting and bowling.  Well Frank’s son, Bernard after doing some research on the family tree wanted to commemorate his father's achievements and
approached me with the offer to present the club with a new shield in Frank’s name.  Of course I did not hesitate and accepted!  Unfortunately Bernard could not make last Friday as he was having an operation, but he did ask me to read the attached speech, which was an absolute pleasure. Please open the attachment and enjoy it.  Bernard on behalf of the
club, thank you for the shield, it looks brilliant!

Finally I have attached a worksheet with all NECC averages.  Please use the tabs to scroll through each category.  I also urge you to look at the Hertfordshire League averages (http://www.hertsleague.co.uk/SHCL%20Averages%202012.pdf).  We have some very good players at North Enfield who have performed really well, best of all is Stuart Halley who had the best batting average in league 8.  As I said on the night, well done Stu!

As mentioned already, we are planning a New Year's Eve Party at the club.  We have only have about 20 tickets left so please contact Andy and Mandy now to avoid disappointment.  We are also selling raffle tickets that all members, family and friends can buy no matter if you are attending on the night or not.  Prizes are £150 cash, a hotel break for two luxury hamper plus more.  Please contact Andy, Mandy or me if you can sell a few books.  The more we sell the more money we will have to invest and improve your club.  Thanks in advance….

Again as mentioned, our AGM will be held on Sunday 3rd February 2013.

Another reminder that the Enfield Conservation Volunteers http://www.ecv.org.uk have kindly confirmed that they have organised two further dates to help us dig out the ditch by the spinny on February 3rd and March 24th.  Please add to your diary, so we can help out too.

Saturday 22nd December we are planning some Christmas NECC winter drinks. Venue TBC (in Enfield).

Sunday 17th February, NECC Clay Shoot, tickets £40 inc breakfast and lunch.  Dave Malleson is organising this.  Please let   him know if you are interested.

There are two more important items.

One of our members Jane Crick runs ‘Portobello’ at 100 High Street, Potters Bar http://portobellolinens.co.uk/  as most of you know, she is having a special shopping night tomorrow (23rd November) starting at 19.00 with a percentage of all sales going to NECC.  Great Gifts for All!  Please do your best to get over to the shop and make a couple of purchases for a few Christmas Pressies!  Please pass the word onto friends and family…. Thanks Jane for putting this on for our benefit!

There has been a recent planning application at Tingeys Top Lane for a new Travellers Site.  Please read the attached letter from our local councillors.  I am liaising with Crews Hill Residents Association and they have requested that we all do our bit and object.  Please do so. Thank you!

Well I think that is it for 2012.  I hope you have found this and my other mails useful.  I urge you to support where possible please!  As always NECC is your club, please get yourself involved and don't leave it to someone else......

Please get in touch with me if you have any ideas or comments re. North Enfield CC at any time.....

Many thanks and best wishes

 James Scott
